LIGA DA EQUIDADE
The League of Equity is a project led by Social Innovation Sports, supported by the UEFA Foundation for Children, that uses football as a tool to promote gender equality and personal development among girls from vulnerable communities.
Beyond football, the project aims to strengthen key life skills such as confidence, teamwork, and autonomy, helping participants grow both on and off the field. At the same time, it fosters stronger community connections, reinforcing the role of sport as a space for inclusion and social transformation.

THE PROBLEM
Despite the growth of women’s football, significant barriers still prevent many girls from participating:
-
Low participation and high dropout rates: Many girls do not start or leave football early, especially in vulnerable contexts.
-
Social and cultural barriers: Persistent stereotypes and biases continue to limit girls’ access to sport.
-
Lack of access to opportunities and safe environments: Many communities lack accessible and structured programs tailored to girls’ needs.

THE ANSWER
The League of Equity addresses these challenges through a practical and community-based model:
-
Regular football training sessions: Twice-weekly sessions focused on technical, physical, and social development, creating a consistent and engaging routine;
-
Personal development workshops: Monthly sessions covering topics such as leadership, health, well-being, and socio-emotional skills, complementing the learning in the field;
-
Community events and gatherings: Activities that promote social connection, a sense of belonging, and stronger community engagement around the project.
